Current project

VIP Snapshot

ACSER’s work is in three areas relevant to space: satellite navigation, small spacecraft design, and space resources. With Australia’s space industry growing rapidly, experience in actual space projects will assist graduates seeking those highly competitive roles. We have already seen our interns placed in senior space positions around the globe.

VIP ChallENG research goals

Elevate UNSW's Space Endeavours: Participate in research that could include mission design or payload systems.

Prepare Graduates for Global Leadership: Provide hands-on experience in space projects, enabling graduates to secure competitive roles within the rapidly growing space sector.

Excel on the International Stage: Students will participate and win (hopefully!) international space competitions.

Research areas:

Space resources is likely to be the most productive but any space project will be considered.

Research, Design & Technical issues:

Varied, depending on competition. E.g. Rover type competitions will require fault-tolerant design of hardware and software.

Engineering skills:

Electrical/Mechanical/Computing/Mining design

Build and test.

Specific skills will vary on a year-to-year basis, depending on the selected competitions.
