Some of the Student Projects with the ChallENG Program are pre-authorised for Non-Traditional Industrial Training. Strict conditions apply in order to receive non-traditional industrial training for Student Projects and will require approval from the team academic. It is not guaranteed that all students that engage within the project will be eligible for Industrial Training.
Non-Traditional Industrial Training Placements can be awarded a maximum of 30 days. Depending on your role within the project and the tasks associated with the role, your Academic Supervisor can work with you to develop the SMART goals and issue either 15 days or 30 days of Non-Traditional Industrial Training. Please note that your role within the project should be for at least 6 months or equivalent to two consecutive academic terms. *The Engineering World Health Summer Institute Program qualifies for 45 days of Traditional Industrial Training.*
If you are working on multiple student projects that are pre-authorised by the Faculty of Engineering, then you can go through the normal procedure and have different Academic Supervisors. These will be counted as multiple placements. You can NOT receive more than 30 days of Non-Traditional Industrial Training. It is important to note that a maximum of three placements can be counted towards your total 60 days of Industrial Training. Therefore, you would then have to complete 30 days of Traditional Industrial Training.
You will NOT be accepted into a Student Project team if your motivation to join is to get Industrial Training.
