ChallENG research goals
- To understand how bacteria work together to break down groundwater pollution
- To understand how groundwater characteristics impact the way bacteria degrade groundwater pollution
- To design and optimize methods for the synthesis of nano-sized iron-loaded granular activated carbon and test its ability to degrade groundwater contaminants
- To develop online data acquisition tools in LabView to monitor groundwater parameters such as pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen and electron transfer potential
Research, design or technical ChallENG
This project will attempt to immobilize pollution degrading bacteria and/or nano-sized iron onto surfaces such as granular activated carbon (GAC) and/or surface modified activated carbon (SMAC)
All engineering degrees are welcome, however students specialising in the below areas are encouraged to apply.
